Val Danza
What started as a student’s feedback became her slogan:
“The Urban Kiz Classes You Didn’t Even Know You Needed”.
Valerie, a.k.a Val Danza is a classically trained dancer. From the age of three she dances ballet. In 2009 she added Salsa and Bachata to her repertoire and finally fell in love with Kizomba and Urban Kiz.
Ever since she has trained and mastered the craft of teaching those beautiful dances with her specialty in Urban Kiz.
Val’s dedication has resulted in her travelling around the world teaching Partnerwork and Styling Classes at major festivals in Europe, Asia, Africa & North America and collaborating with both, local and international teachers.
In 2018 she moved to Oslo to contribute to the growth of the dance community in Scandinavia.
Last but not least, in 2021, she was drawn into the beautiful world of Brazilian Zouk, training intensively and eventually starting an inspiring dance & teaching partnership with Rodrigo Henrique Teixeira, one of Oslo’s most distinguished Brazilian Zouk teachers.
In 2023, she officially began training Jossy as her Urban Kiz partner in the follower role,
establishing the first consistently role-flipped couple to teach regularly on an international level.
With this approach Val & Jossy seek to inspire and to empower dancers to explore the full potential of their own versatility,
transforming how students experience and grow within the dance.
Being ambidancetrous allows them to seamlessly switch between leading and following,
which profoundly enhances their teaching and brings a fresh, inspiring perspective to the dance world.
Val & Jossy are known for their professionalism, yet positive energy, and their ability to identify the needs of their students.
By understanding both roles, they can break down techniques with unmatched precision and adapt their guidance to suit the needs of each dancer, whether they lead or follow.
This dual perspective allows them to address common struggles and offer unique insights into movement quality and body awareness.
They prioritise not only technique and musicality but also emotion and creativity, while carefully considering the details of physical conditioning.
